Is That a Quiz in Your Pocket, or Are You Just Happy To See Me?

I guess I should be happy that you guys didn’t get the ones about being too young for that kind of fun - hehe

#6 was Does Your Mother Know? by ABBA

#7 was Young Girl, and I had it by Gary Puckett, but I’d be happy to be corrected on that one. I actually didn’t hear about the whine-fest from Donovan, not that I’d be particularly surprised. Was it a good one?

I wonder how many folks are still out there in holiday-land. Well, for those of you that are still here, I warn you, I’m stuck in a scary time, and there are no Christmas songs yet. Yet. :)

#1

The things that pass for knowledge I can't understand.

#2

Tell me no secrets, tell me some lies
Give me no reasons, give me alibis
Tell me you love me and don't make me cry
Say anything but don't say goodbye

#3

What I've got they used to call the blues
Nothin' is really wrong
Feelin' like I don't belong
Walkin' around, some kind of lonely clown

#4

Blue jean baby, L.A. lady, seamstress for the band
Pretty eyed, pirate smile, you'll marry a music man

#5

They would not listen
they're not listening still
perhaps they never will.

#6

Loving you
Isn’t the right thing to do
How can I ever change things
That I feel

#7

Reading, writing and arithmetic
Are the branches of the learning tree
But without the roots of love every day, girl
Your education ain't complete
T-T-T-Teacher's gonna show you

#8

Did it take long to find me? I asked the faithful light.
Did it take long to find me? and are you gonna stay the night?

#9

Everybody wants her, everybody loves her
Everybody wants to take your baby home

#10 and, just for balance,

So from my personal point of view,
Get an ugly girl to marry you.

#4: Tiny Dancer, Elton John (marked forever for me by that awesome scene in "Almost Famous")
#8: Moonshadow, Yusef Stevens (or is it Cat Islam?)

Still gotta get up pretty early to beat zerodoll and jayfish here, huh? :)

2 -- I was trying to James Taylor this. Not right. One of my first stepfather's faves...

3 -- Carpenters, "Rainy Days and Mondays", by that horrid elf Paul Williams

Oh, the Donovan thing -- I think he's got an autobiography out or some such, b/c they've been talking about him on the morning shows. He feels he was the original poet for the Love Generation, he's under-appreciated compared to other musical artists of that era and genre, etc. etc. I think he needs to pump up his retirement fund or something...

And everything I can find says Gary Puckett too. Dunno why I hear Englebert in my head to those lyrics; do they sound a lot alike? At least I'm not hearing Neil Diamond's "Girl, You're a Woman Now." (gak)
