Holloween Candy Hangover Lyrics Quiz

Hehe – ok, maybe I stretched a bit too far with the spooky theme. I had to go with songs I knew though. For some strange reason, I never listened to the Dead Kennedys or Megadeath, which might have made my task easier. :)

So, whadda we got?

Dang, Jayfish even spelled Siouxie correctly. Wow.

Looks like the trouble was #2, which isn’t too surprising – it’s nasty. It’s called Zombie Jamboree. I heard Rockapella (you know, the "Where in the World is Carmen San Deigo" guys) sing it, but the Kingston Trio did a fine version as well. So, there ya go. :)

Oh! I actually got a surprise ticket to a concert tonight. I saw a pretty famous guy do some pretty famous songs. Fun fun fun and unexpected! And most importantly, it took me away from grading! Let's hear it for creative procrastination!

Strangeness ahead, but I’ve got faith in you folks!

#1

He said "In winter 1963
It felt like the world would freeze
With John F. Kennedy
And the Beatles."

#2

At ninety-eight we all rotate

#3

all my instincts, they return
and the grand facade, so soon will burn
without a noise, without my pride
I reach out from the inside

#4

Four young chaquitas in Omaha,
Was waiting for the band to return from the show.

#5

You know the preacher likes the cold
He knows I'm gonna stay

#6

I never saw no miracle of science
That didn't go from a blessing to a curse

#7

I’ve had friends
But they have slipped away
I’ve had fame
But it doesn’t stay

#8

And I got such a long way to go.
To make it to the border of Mexico.

#9

You thought that I'd be weak without you
But I'm stronger
You thought that I'd be broke without you
But I'm richer

#10

Show me a smile then,
Don't be unhappy, can't remember
When I last saw you laughing

And the bonusy bonus!

So doncha sit there slack jawed, buggy eyed
I'm here to answer all your midday prayers

#3 In Your Eyes- Peter Gabriel (we all wanted Lloyd Dobler as our bf, or was that just me?)

#8 Run Like the Wind- Christopher Cross? maybe with Michael McDonald

Damn, I knew #1, #3, and # 8. But, I also know # 10 -- "True Colors" by Cyndi Lauper.

#2 is by INXS, but I can't remember the title!

#6 is If I Ever Lose My Faith in You by Sting

Zerodoll, I'm right there with you regarding Lloyd Dobbler!

#5, "California Dreaming"

#1 gave me the weirdest flashback - I couldn't remember the band or the title, but I vividly remembered the context in which I most often heard the song, hanging out in my best friend's house.

LOVE #8 (and good call on the Michael McDonald element, zerodoll!) - now what's stuck in my head is the bit following the title phrase, "Ba-da-da-DA, da! da! da! DAAAAAA..." best sung at top of lungs.

#1-"life in a northern town," by...Dream Academy? That seems wrong...
#4--is that "American Band" by Grand Funk Railroad?

Wow--these are hard! I need more coffee...

#1 is Dream Academy (and thank you, Jayfish!) -- yes, I had the LP.

The rest of these are so hard that no amount of coffee could help me...

The Bonus: Mean Green Mother From Outer Space!!!! (altho the musical may follow the old tradition of titling songs by their first line...)

From Little Shop of Horrors

Did you ever see the SCTV music video spoof of "Ride Like the Wind"? Fun-ny.

Oh geez, the codeine set in. Talk about having a senior moment w/o being a senior. Golly.

Um, I mean You Ain't Never Had a Friend Like Me. From Aladdin

Cripes. "Um, drugs are bad, m'Kay, kids?"

Hmmm ... that's an interesting pair of movies to mix up .... a boy and his genie vs. a boy and his man-eating plant.

I knew it wasn't Mean Green Momma ....
