Back to Space

Happy Fourth everyone!

Yea Shuttle!

So, Germany or Italy?  I'm no big fan of either one, though.  I think I'll root for lotsa goals (how Amurikun is that?)

The coin flip says I'll go for Germany

Deutschland uber alles. I'll not root for the Italian National Diving Team (who are only slightly less theatrically accomplished than the Portugese).

Diving... Yeah there's a post and a half there.

So you're for Italy? wanna make a friendly wager? How about a nickel?

I'll not root for the Italian National Diving Team.
Emphasis added.

They're playing each other pretty close right now, but I'd like to see if get even Klose.

Jeeeze - Klose reading must not be my strong suit.

The game looks pretty good so far. I was expecting a few red cards by now. That last Italian run should have been a goal though

That was a total flop.

Germany's putting up a pretty sloppy defense. They're lucky to not have been scored on yet. They're offense looks good, but not quite synched yet.

Italy's defense looks ok, but all they have is an occasional counter-attack for offense. Is that their standard style?

By the way, I'm thinking a nice soccer jersey with "Italian National Diving Team" printed on it might be a good seller.

Yeah, Italy doesn't have a terribly coordinated attack. They haven't scored a lot in the Cup so far (especially if you toss out a couple of flop-penalties).

I'm always amazed at how bad these world-class players are at putting the ball on goal. They all seem to prefer blasting it to placing it.

I wonder if those long shots are just frustration. Most of them look horrible - going miles over the goal, but sometimes they actually go in, I guess.

I have to admit, I kinda hope we go to penalty kicks, even though it seems players hate that more than anything else.

Another thing - I think the players would stop a lot more goals if they actually kept playing defense instead of pulling up short and waving their arms in the air trying to get an offsides call

Well, that's cancelled out by the attackers going down as if shot at the slightest challenge to try and get a free kick.

Totti flopping really annoys me, but for some reason I'm amused when Ballack throws up his hands, as if to say "No contact here!" at the same time as he's muscling someone with his body or kicking them.

Well, that's that then. Gotta admit, that was a pretty shot

Holy crap! That's 2!

Italy definitely outplayed them. Germany had almost no quality touches near the goal. That's a shame though; I don't care for the Italian's brand of soccer.

Hmmm, although I'm rooting for France, it would be great to see a Portugal-Italy final. At any given time in that game, I bet there'd be a dozen players on the ground flailing about in mock agony.

True enough, so that'll leave, what, Italy and France in the final?
