• Jonathan Coulter sings funny songs. I suggest his cover of Sir Mix-a-Lot's "Baby Got Back", and "Code Monkey"
• This is perhaps the coolest robot t-shirt. Can you name them all?
• There's a town in China that produces most of the classic painting reproductions in the world. Someone asked the artists to paint self-portraits. The result is wonderful. I especially love the one by Xu Zanpeng
• National Geographic rocks - this is well-known. They've got a cool article with typically wonderful photos about the 'instant cities' that are popping up in China.

A Saturday Morning Clearing of the Tabs

I keep tabs open with very bizarre pages on them thinking that maybe I'll send the links to friends, or keep look at the pages again, but I rarely do, so I post them here for me to have them for later, and of course, for your edification.

1. The New Trailer for The Golden Compass. Interested? I am. Jayfish told me I needed to read those books and he was right. Fun funfun! Please don't be a bad movie!
2. One of my favorite comics has some of the best tshirts evar. I mean, seriously, look at the library science one. How could you not just giggle uncontrollably all day long if you wore that? The "everything is ruined forever" one is also mucho awesome.
3. I saw some scary things when I was in Japan. Things that damaged my very being at a metaphysical level. Now you can too!

There are a couple more tabs, but those are the entertaining ones. Have a loverly Saturday. (Does 'loverly' show up as correct in your spellcheck too? That's awesome.)

More o' the Same

OK, I realize that all I seem to do anymore is post links, but well, yeah. That's what I'm going to do again. Things are starting to get crazy over in academic land, but for now it's all link-o-riffic.

First, have you guys seen the Amazon MP3 download store? I really dig it. No digital rights management (although it does have a non-personal watermark), pretty high quality (256 kbps) and, since it's an MP3, you can do whatever you want with it. iPod? no problem! any other MP3 player? no problem! burn onto a CD? sure! copy it to your laptop? why not! Very cool. They still need to get more artists signed up. They do make you use a downloader, but it'll file the new music into your iTunes or your WMP. Coolness.

Completely random, but they've been lurking in my browser tabs, so I'm putting them here so that I can delete the tabs. Fun eh?

1. Comparative Maps Of Subway Systems - Alas, would that my current city had a London-size tube. My. That sounded very rude, didn't it? Fun for fans of public transit!
   
2. Boomshine Game - I'm pretty sure that I linked this before, but I'm lazy and I don't want to look. Very fun soothing flash game. try to get all the dots to blow up in pretty lights and colors. Fun for those who enjoy pretty lights and colors!
   
3. Who Said It Quiz - try and guess who said the quote. Was it Osama bin Laden or either Jerry Falwell or Pat Robertson. Fun for the whole extremist family!
4. Alice and Jabberwocky Over Tea - What would happen if you put two relatively advanced Turing chatting programs in a room together? Funny, and intriguing too!
5. Color Photos From World War I - I've seen a few sites like this one, but this one seems to have more photos and many I haven't seen before at all. It's eerie to look at the people who lived during that time. Fun for... well, not fun really, kind of sobering and fascinating for history-geeks.
6. Archive of Dime Novel Covers - very freaky but a hoot to browse through. Fun for strapping young men of adventure and their winsome women who stay in their place.

Political Link Dump

• May 1st is only Labor Day everywhere but the US. Thanks to our intrepid leader, May 1st is "Loyalty Day" from now on.
• By the way, on Loyalty Day, Americans are encouraged to, "express their loyalty to the United States by flying the flag, participating in our democracy, and learning more about our country's grand story of courage and simple dream of dignity." Therefore I will participate in democracy by calling our president a twit.
• Bill Moyers interviews Jon Stewart.
  
• I really like Jon's take on the Gonzales fiasco. It seems incomprehensible to me that Gonzales is truly that incompetent or ignorant. He's just falling on his sword like a good little foot soldier. The longer he can draw heat and anger away from the president, the better for he's preformed. No wonder Bush has more confidence in him than ever before.
• Watch the interview with Josh Marshall too. There's some very wonkish stuff in there, but it may help in understanding the firings.

• Funky French Animations. Honestly, I only watched Geraldine (the man who gets turned into a woman and L'Eau de Rose about a couple breaking up on a ferris wheel. Ha-ha out loud funny. Check out the illustrations on the left too. There are a couple of nipple slips that I saw, so work surfer beware.
• The dangers of asking why when you are 3 and your father is a prof.
• Of course dogs talk. Some do it better than others tho.
• Scary. 200 calories in many forms. Thank goodness they didn't include nachos or mint chocolate covered oreos.
